Hastings Caves looks like such a fascinating place to explore in Tasmania! The stalactites, stalagmites, and unusual helictites must be incredible to see up close. I also love that you can follow the cave tour with a rainforest walk and a dip in the warm thermal pool—such a great combination for a day trip.

Great photos! I remember visiting caves like that in California when I was very young. That’s where I learned about stalagmites and stalactites, But I can’t remember which is which.

We absolutely love touring caves. Hastings Cave looks amazing. Your pictures are beautiful. And wonderful to have a place after the “cool” tour to enjoy a thermal pool.

Oh my goodness…this reminds me of a state park in Alabama (I know, it’s odd but we also have NZ’s glow worms cousins too!) and if I hadn’t seen the title first, that’s where I would have thought this was. So, naturally, I must go there. I was just in Australia last December/January and Tasmania is on my list when I return!

The combination of caves and thermal hot springs sounds amazing, though it certainly takes some driving to get there. I would love to spot a platypus while visiting.

There is so much natural beauty in your part of the world. I like the boardwalk. This would be my preferred activity. I’m not sure if I would be game for the cave walk. I love thermal springs and I would definitely pick this. I guess having less density of population also helps to preserve these pristine places.

What a magical place! And you captured it beautifully. Not just the caves but also the vegetation in the surrounding area. It sounds like a physically demanding treck …….. but so worth it!
